I bumped into this video on Youtube. After watching I vaguely recalled playing this game when I was young, during the Sega Megadrive days. Its apparently one of the hardest game ever made. So I’m not too sure if I’ve completed here.

Have you played this before ?

wipe1WipEout Fury was just released a few days ago and I couldn’t help but notice that my WipEout HD looks abit different right now. The car and course selection screen all look so different. I guess with the release for Fury, those people that still do not have the change to get their hands on it yet, will nice fancy update :P

My WipEout HD looks different now

Well, it is tough times for everyone… including us gamers. Where top of the line games cost quite a bit, we need to find ways to overcome time, while at the same time being able to play quality games. As gamer, here are a few things that I have done. (And I’m NOT talking about playing those crappy online flash games as an alternative)

1. Buy games online ( like from the PlayStation Network Store or from Steam )

You will be able to find some pretty good games for a bargain. And one of them is the futuristic racing game, WipEout HD for the PS3. The graphics are amazing and it has high re-playability with the online features and best of all it cost only US$20. Talking about replay value, its expansion pack WipEout Fury will be released sometime this week !

Have a look at the trailer from the latest WipEout Fury and experience this amazing racer in HD quality.

Well, besides WipEout, there are still quite a lot of these online games that are worth looking at (e.g. Street Fighter 2 HD, if SF4 is out of your budget)

2. Used games

There are been a lot of talk lately about buying used games and I think buying second-hand games could really do the trick. Most used games cost about 60-70% of the original price (from Ebay) and also depend how old its the game it will continue to drop. My tip is, if you are really into collecting the game covers or box arts, go for those used games without any manuals or the gamebox or even some slight scratch. That could really give you a good deal !

3. Rent !!!

Not all countries have videogames rental service, but I think it is a good alternative to buying the game, especially if you are just thinking for a playing for a short period of time. I normally rent games to try them out before I consider buying them.

4. Dig out your old games and play them over LAN

Games like Warcraft 3 and Starcraft are still very amazing. Grab some cool custom maps and a couple of friends and you have yourself a LAN party.

I hope this gives you an idea of what you try. Let me know what other ways that you can think of too !

How do gamers survive financial crisis ?

I’ve finally made the long-overdued but painful move to my own domain (and I’ve changed the blog name to SlackerGamer in the process as well). I actually wanted the name slackergamer when I signed up for my blogspot account but it was already taken. So now is probably the best time to revert back to my original plans.

Do update your bookmarks and rss feeds. There will be much more content coming soon.
