Many people have asked me, why did I buy a Sega Saturn when there is a Playstation out already back in 1997. And I only answer is, Segata Sanshiro !!!

Segata Sanshiro is an ingenious ad campaign by Sega to promote their Sega Saturn console when they were competing with the Playstation. He is basically a Japanese man in a white gi that goes around town kicking ass of those people that doesn’t play Sega Saturn. Now you know why I was afraid.

I will punish those who play badly. You must play Sega Saturn.

I know I have been talking a lot about NiGHTS lately. But the game that has one of the best gameplays deserves the attention it gets. This is a video of how the old NiGHTS looks like for those who have no idea of what I am talking about. Cheers !

Welcome to our first retro flashback.

One of the most memorable games in the Sega Saturn system was Guardian Heroes. Its 2d side-scrolling action game, which has rpg elements and combat in it. Depending on your choice of actions, you’ll advance to different scenarios of the game and encounter different enemies. The different people you encounter would be available to you when you play the VS. mode. You can unlock about 45 different characters to play in a 8player deathmatch !

I really love the gameplay and the concept of this game. I have not seen any other game quite like this since playing it. Owner’s of the Sega Saturn would know what I am talking about as this is one of the finest game made in the Saturn system.

Guardian Heroes is quite rare and highly priced among retro gamers. The last I checked in Ebay, the price for this game when up to around US$80, which is incredible. This together with the other great saturn games like Panzer Dragoon, Shining Force..etc.
