Lost Odyssey is the latest Japanese RPG coming to the Xbox360. You play a man callled Kaim, who have lived for 1000 years. Basically he has eternal life or some sort. The game’s story revolves around the many generations of which Kaim is a part, his loves and losses and conflicts.

The development of the game sees a gathering of famous Japanese developers. An all star team really. You have Hironobu Sakaguchi (creator of Final Fantasy) as game producer, Kiyoshi Shigematsu (award-winning Japanese novelist) doing the story, Takehiko Inoue (famous comic book artist, creator of Slam Dunk !) doing character design and Nobuo Uematsu (the veteran Final Fantasy music composer) doing his magic with the music.

With all the big names in the industry, you can see how hard Xbox is trying to getting a foothold on the Japanese market with these RPGs.

Lost Odyssey has already been released in Japan. While release days for North America is February 12, 2008 and Europe is February 29, 2008.

If you have not already heard of Blue Dragon, it’s the upcoming RPG for the Xbox360 by the creator of the Final Fantasy series, Hironobu Sakaguchi. Apparently, Sakaguchi started his own developing studio called Mistwalker, which also includes other prominent people that developed the Final Fantasy series including composer Nobuo Uematsu. Akira Toriyama of Dragon Ball is also in the team doing character design. This look like an All-star rpg creators team. We’ll have to wait and see what comes of this.

As you can see, there several new features in this game. Like the rock-kicking, i think thats the method to find items. Another thing I noticed is that you have look for stuff in every area of the map. Contrary to the usual RPGs, where areas that you can look for items are shaded differently from the game. This new feature makes things more realistic but I guess more difficult to play too.
